Acts as store house of business information for business matching, networking and information sharing that provides business information to the business and investors in promoting trade and investment in 11 provinces of four countries namely Danang, Hue, and Quang tri provinces in Vietnam, Savannakhet province in Laos, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok and Tak provinces in Thailand, and Kayin and Mon States in Myanmar.

PREPARATION FOR GMS-FRETA ESTABLISHMENT

GMS-FRETA LAUNCH MEETINGS, 28th May – 8th June 2012

The GMS Business Forum will be holding series of GMS FRETA Launch Meetings in the 6 GMS Countries, commencing from 28th May - 8th June 2 The objective of the Launch Meetings is to reach a consensus on GMS-FRETA-related legal documents and establish a country chapter with key founding members in each GMS country. The expected outcomes from the meeting are:

· A general agreement on the substance of the Articles of Association and other legal documents.

· A modality and legal process for the establishment of the GMS-FRETA country Chapter. There are two ways 1) a GMS-FRETA (Sub-) Association affiliated to GMS-FRETA or 2) a Branch of GMS-FRETA. The choice will depend on the regulations of each GMS country.

· A list of “Founding Members” committed orally to join GMS-FRETA.

Target participants in the meetings are:

1) local transport and freight forwarding operators who intend to operate internationally within the GMS;

2) transport and freight forwarder associations;

3) government officials representing the GMS Transport Committee (as observers).

The locations of the meetings are tentatively set as the ADB Resident Mission in each country except for Myanmar and China. <<More>>
